Dear Dudders

Dear Dudders:

Oh Lucas James! My stubborn, sweet little man. You are almost 9 months old already and I'm thinking about your first birthday party...how is that even possible?

What a sweet, cuddly little boy you are! You love your mommy and daddy and get the best smile on your face when we come in to the room. You also have a touch of separation anxiety so you cry when we leave but always know that we will come back for you. Always. You are a part of our heart and our soul, neither of which we could live without.

You are so big and growing by leaps and bounds this past month. You already weigh more than 20lbs and are very long (don't have the exact measurements until your appt in 2 weeks).

In the past two weeks you've:

Gotten your 3rd tooth!

Learned to pull yourself up to stand on your own!

Crawl!

Say Dada...and the occassional Mama!

Move forward and backwards in your walker and cruise along the furniture!

You hate food. You act as if we are poisioning you and gag as if you are being choked. I console myself with the fact that I've never seen a teenager that still drinks formula from a bottle. You'll want real food one of these days.

You still don't sleep through the night.

You adore your big brother and want to be with him all the time.

You have the best smile in the world! I've never seen a happier kid than you.

Thank you for being ours Lukey Luke. We love you so much!

Love, Mommy

Dear Bubba

Dear Bubba:

How is it that you are getting so big, so fast? You're almost 2 1/2 already! You are funny and active and so very, very loved.

~You love to play golfs--as you call it--, hockey, and baseball.

~You can't get enough of your daddy. He's your best friend and playmate.
~You are the best big brother EVER. You wake up every morning asking for your "Wook" and can't wait till I let you run in the room to say hi to him or wake him up.
~You suddenly love to dance and ask for your CD every time we are in the car...except you only want to listen to the damn ABC song that mommy is so very sick of hearing! :) Something else, anything else would be fabulous.
~You adore your nannie. She took you to see Cars2 yesterday and you fell asleep about an hour in to the movie. I have a sneaking suspicion we'll see that movie again though.
~You swallowed a penny on July 3rd that has yet to make its reappearance. When we ask you where your penny is you say "in my butt". Makes me laugh every time. You've got one more week to get that penny out though buster before we have to go back to the hospital for the next steps so get it moving, ok?
~You're learning to ride your bike and love your new helmet.
~You refuse to even think about sitting on the potty yet. Give it up kiddo! You'll have to do it sooner or later and mommy would prefer sooner, ok?

I needed to put down into words our conversation last night. When you woke up crying and Mommy brought you into bed with her so that we could snuggle. I said to you "guess what?" and you responded with "guess what?" and I said "I love you" and you responded with "I love you too". It made my heart smile. Usually you just say I love you back. This was like a give and take conversation though which makes it just that much more special.

I love you so very much Matthew William and I can't wait to see what the future holds for us together.

Love, Mommy

Happy 2nd Birthday Matty Billy!!!

Matt's 2nd Birthday was on Saturday and he had a blast with all of his friends at the Little Gym! He loves it there and having his "guys" there just was icing on the cake! The kids ran, climbed and played for an hour nonstop! Some of the kids were so red-faced from exertion. A few of the kids kept asking if they could go back in after the play time was over. I'm so glad they all had fun!

Following the kids party we went to my moms for a second cake. However, Matt had a bout with the stomach virus and ended up being sick. Instead we had the second cake the next day and got to sing happy birthday again!

For a week Matt would cry when you'd sing Happy Birthday to him...come the day of his party, he was smiling and singing along. Silly boy.

Here is Matt's invite...my friend Jeni did them and she did an AMAZING job!

And here are a couple of pictures of Luke, just because he is so damn adorable! :)

Leaving

Leaving for work each day is something that never gets easier. There is a routine, sure. I get up and get ready, go and take care of the dogs and cats, pack our bags then go wake the kids up to get them dressed. I'm lucky that the daycare provider feeds them for me...it lets me sleep a few extra minutes in the morning and my kids don't seem to want to eat as soon as they wake up so it works out perfectly. My husband leaves for work at 5:15, so the whole morning routine falls on me.

Today was both the best and one of the worst days that I've had to come to work though. After taking the kids to the sitters I was saying goodbye to Matt and gave him a hug and kiss and told him to be a good boy for Mum Mum Roe. He was busy playing with the other kids so wasn't paying much attention to me...makes for a smoother, tear-free getaway. But today...he decided to be adorable! He ran to me when I was at the door with his arms out yelling "squeezie" and puckering his lips. I scooped him up, gave him a tight squeeze and a kiss and said goodbye. He walked away and as soon as I put my hand on the doorknob, he repeated the process. He did this 3 times, giggling uncontrollably each time. My heart smiled as I walked out the door.

Oh hell...did I say goodbye to Luke? Sigh.

Through my childs eyes

Yesterday Matt, Luke and I went to the zoo for the day. Daddy went fishing since it was one of the first nice days of the year. I think I had the much better day.

Matt and I had a ball together. I've been to the Zoo many times in my life but I don't think I've ever had a better time than I did with my almost two year old little boy. We held hands, "whoa"d over the animals and shared lots of smiles. He was soooo good (in contrast to some of the days we've had lately).

Even Luke was so well behaved. He slept most of the time, snuggly and warm in his stroller, breathing in the fresh air. He was pleasant when he was awake and only fussed when he was ready to eat.

I'm looking forward to exploring many more happy days at the zoo with my little guys. Maybe we'll even let Daddy come too!

I leave you with some pics of our day.

The Haps

Luke was baptised into the Catholic church on Sunday and it was beautiful! Finally a sunny day and no snow! He did really well, considering he was HUNGRY and decided to show his displeasure during the Monsigners speech about the devil. Seriously kid? You couldn't have timed it better!

We had switched Luke back to regular formula over the weekend and we quickly found out that he wasn't ready for it. The kid who never spit up suddenly started throwing up after every feeding and was incredibly fussy. So Monday he went right back to the soy formula.

Matt is turning into such a funny little boy. Last night a conversation with Daddy went like this:

Matt--Where Trix go, Daddy?
Pete--they're in your belly buddy.
Matt then unzips his pjs and grabs his belly...he starts crying TRIX, TRIX!!!!!

Drama king???
Today it was icy when we left for the sitters. I'm taking my time and telling him to be careful. He slides on the ice and I gasp, fearing he's going to fall. Matt loves it and yells WEEEEEE!

These kids make my heart smile!
